Nursery

About our nursery

At Woodlands Day Nursery we pride ourselves on providing strong partnerships with families and ensuring children are happy, safe and settled.

Our nursery is for children between the ages 3 and 4. Children can claim funding the term after their 3rd birthday. Our main intake is September, however depending on spaces and waiting lists there may be opportunities to start throughout the year. Maximum amount of children per session is 24.

We open for funded hours Monday-Friday 8.30am-5.30pm term time only. However, there is option for breakfast club from 7.30am at an additional charge. We aim to be as flexible as possible as we understand all families need different childcare arrangements and this can be discussed when arranging session times and days. Any non-funded hours will be invoiced monthly.

The nursery is situated on the grounds of Woodlands Primary Academy with its own secure outdoor area. It has lots of great resources but also benefits from being able to access the schools fantastic resources too. This includes a large field, nature area, library and much more!

We have a school uniform which we encourage children to wear as sometimes we can get a little messy! Uniforms can be found at Harrisons.

EYFS FRAMEWORK

We follow the EYFS framework. This framework explains how and what your child will be learning to support their healthy development. Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development.

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

These 7 areas are used to plan your child’s learning and activities. Your childs keyworker will make sure that the activities are suited to your child’s unique needs to further and encourage their development and achievements. Their development and achievements will be shared with parent/carers through tapestry which is an online learning journey where parents and staff can share videos and pictures from home as well as nursery.

Some of our activities

Story cafes

Every term we have themed story cafes where families can enjoy listening to a story and participating in fun activities around the story. This is a great way to chat to staff and other parents as well as seeing your little ones interacting at nursery.

Cooking

We love cooking and baking! Every week we have different recipes for the children to follow, bake and take home to try.

Bushcraft

We are extremely lucky to have such a lovely woodland area. Children and staff get their wellies on and head down to the woods to build dens, check our bug hotels and spot animal tracks! It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, explore and learn.
