Our Learning Environment

Our nursery classroom is thoughtfully designed to encourage independence, with a wide range of accessible resources that support both purposeful play and self-directed learning.

Children are offered a healthy snack twice a day, with the option of milk and/or water. Our dedicated snack bar area provides a relaxed and social space where children can enjoy their food while chatting with friends and staff.

We actively encourage independence by supporting children to serve themselves and take responsibility for tidying up afterwards—valuable skills that promote confidence and self-care.

Children enjoy daily access to our outdoor garden area, come rain or shine! The space is rich with opportunities for exploration and active play, featuring a mud kitchen, water play area, bikes, a growing area, and a large open space for climbing, running, and developing physical skills.

Session Times and Fees

At Woodlands Day Nursery, we offer a welcoming and nurturing environment with spaces for up to 28 children per session. Our flexible session options are designed to support the needs of families:

  • Morning Session: 8:30am – 11:30am (excluding lunch)
  • Afternoon Session: 11:30am – 3:30pm (includes lunch)
  • Full Day: 8:30am – 3:30pm (includes lunch)

We also offer a Breakfast Club from 8:00am for a small additional cost of £2.50.

All children are entitled to 15 hours of funded nursery education per week. Families who meet the eligibility criteria may receive up to 30 hours of funded childcare. Any additional hours beyond the funded entitlement are charged at £5.28 per hour.

Communication with Families

At Woodlands Day Nursery, we value strong partnerships with parents and carers. To keep you informed and involved in your child’s learning journey, we use Tapestry, our secure online learning journal. When your child joins us, we’ll ask for your email address to set up your account, giving you access to regular observations, photos, and updates about your child’s development.

We also use Class Dojo, an interactive platform that allows for easy communication between families and your child’s key person. Staff respond promptly to messages and share a weekly update highlighting what the children have been learning, complete with photos and insights from the week.
